CEO of Plug and Play, Saeed Amidi said they want to help foreign entrepreneurs get a foot in Silicon Valley’s door: “Companies that are in Palo Alto are already connected. International startups may be just as good but they need a fast track into Silicon Valley culture. Plug and Play provides a network which accelerates doing business in the valley.

Startup World is an initiative to promote startups and entrepreneurship globally by shining a light on technology hubs and startups around the world through a global competition.

The competition has already taken place in Mexico City, Perú, Chile, Buenos Aires, Sao Paulo, Rio De Janeiro, Brazil, Cape Town, South Africa, Nairobi, Kenya, Dar Es Salaam, Tanzania, San Francisco, Los Angeles, London, Berlin, Paris and Barcelona.

“Whist Silicon Valley is the highest producer of technology companies in the world, technology and startup culture is growing across the rest of America and globally as the cost of innovation decreases and more entrepreneurs are equipped with the tools they need to build the next Facebook or Google.

We want to shine a light on these growing technology hubs by highlighting their entrepreneurs and startups” said Startup World’s founder Hermione Way.

The North American leg of the tour will be held in June in the following cities; Miami, New York, Vancouver, Montreal.

Startups who win the competition in their city will be invited to Silicon Valley for the grand final which will be held at the Plug and Play tech center in Sunnyvale.
